The Archie Foundation is the official charity of Tayside’s Children’s Hospital which, is aiming to transform children’s health care experience in Dundee. You might not have heard of Archie before but they were behind the highly successful Oor Wullie Bucket Trail in 2016.
The current focus of Archie’s fund raising efforts is on building a new operating theatre at the Tayside Children’s Hospital at Ninewells which links to this global health challenge.
The Challenge
“Anna Dewar is a healthy twelve year old girl. She lives together with her mum, two brothers and a sister in a flat in Arbroath. She suffers from recurrent tonsillitis and has been placed on a waiting list to have her tonsils removed at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. She has never been admitted to hospital before. Both she and her mum are understandably quite anxious about the journey that lies ahead. Her mum has been given an information sheet, informing her that Anna’s operation will be carried out in the new Children’s Surgical Unit at Ninewells.”
Ninewells Hospital is in the process of building a new Children’s Theatre Suite that will open in 2020. They have architectural plans for the layout of the entrance, reception, waiting area, clinic rooms, and theatres and ward spaces, but have a real need for you to help the Paediatric team co-design a welcoming and engaging hospital experience for children and families. Children of all ages, up to the age of 16 years will be treated in the facility, so the design scope will be quite challenging:
“Help us co-design a Children’s Hospital atmosphere that delights all ages and exceeds the expectations of children, families and our healthcare team”
