Report
Our first match against Kirriemuir CC was played in great spirit, despite a mid-match soaking which forced the players off for around 30 seconds before a decision was made to ‘*** it, let’s just play through it’, and a pitch increasingly with the consistency of a sticky toffee pudding. Scoring was extremely difficult as a result. Kirriemuir set a target of 65, with most DUSCC players getting the chance to demonstrate their ‘prowess’ with the ball. On debuts, Amar (3-2-1-2) and Murali (1.5-0-10-2) bowled well. In reply DUSCC found run-scoring no easier until Scott Rodgers (24no) once again saw us over the line. This was Simon Tiernan’s last game for DUSCC before moving to London to start a new job. In a gesture of goodwill he was asked to open the bowling and the batting. He did bowl a maiden!
