Report
The first game of this year’s World Series with Almond Valley (7 fixtures scheduled…) was an exciting high- scoring one which DUSCC eventually won by 3 wickets with 2 overs to spare. Thanks go to the Valley for supplying us with 3 fielders when we bowled, as we were able to summon only 8 players for this match. Overs were shared round everyone who turned up for us; it was particularly pleasing to see Richard Miller call a temporary halt to his retirement to help us out. I’m reliably informed (by Richard himself) that he landed his first ball on the proverbial sixpence and was eventually rewarded with 2 good wickets, and surprisingly little pain from his body the next day. Colin Reid again anchored the DUSCC chase to good effect, batting through for 30* while Blair Smith (17), Miles Dixon (26) and Scott Rodgers (15*) hit out very well at the other end to see us home.
