Report
Valley made the Table Leg series score 2-1 to DUSCC with a 15 run win in a game reduced by rain at the scheduled start to 16 overs per side. We were fortunate to get a game in at all given conditions at 7pm but the provision of covers and the willingness of both teams to make something of the evening helped.
Valley won the toss and batted first and if we’re honest DUSCC’s bowling and especially fielding performance was not one of its finest. Dropped catches became too numerous to count and the wet conditions were only a partial explanation. There was the occasional good moment – run outs by Ross Mackay and Steve Boarder and a good outfield catch by Blair Smith – but Valley batted well and paced their innings to finish with 112 off their 16 overs.
In reply Steve Boarder played some attractive early strokes to reach 26 and Duncan Heather formed the backbone of the innings, 9th out for an excellent 32, but DUSCC fell gradually behind the required run rate and never came close to overhauling their target.
