Bharat Gadakh completed his master’s degree in Medicinal Chemistry (2008) from the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali India. He then moved to KU Leuven, Belgium for doctoral studies under the supervision of Prof. Arthur Van Aerschot. His doctoral research dealt with improving the uptake of nucleoside antibiotics by Trojan-Horse strategy (via peptidyl-nucleoside conjugates). He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry (IOCB), Prague, Czech Republic with Dr. Radim Nencka where he worked on the synthesis of selective kinase (PI4KIIα) inhibitors. He then moved back to KU Leuven, Belgium to work on the total synthesis of albomycin. Bharat worked as a scientific manager in Indian CRO called Aragen Life Sciences (formerly known as GVK Biosciences) for 2 years. While working at Selvita (CRO) on the synthesis of PROTACs, he developed an interest in PROTACs. Bharat likes to watch Bollywood movies, play or watch cricket, and read non-scientific books in his spare time.
