Sofia, originally from Viseu, Portugal, joined the Ciulli group in October 2018 as a visiting PhD student.
Sofia graduated in 2013 with a M.Sc in Pharmacy at the University of Porto, Portugal. In January 2016, she started her PhD at the University of Lisbon, Portugal, under the supervision of Professor Rui Moreira. Her PhD is mainly focused on the development of pharmacological modulators of Parkinson’s Disease associated proteins. Sofia joined Ciulli group with the aim of learning more about chemical biology and develop PROTACs as a new approach to target and degrade dysfunctional proteins.
In her spare time Sofia enjoys to sing, travel and spend time with her friends and family.
