Profile

Giacomo completed his Master’ s degree in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies at the University of Ferrara (Italy) in 2014, before moving to the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, UK) for his PhD studies, where he worked on the synthesis and binding characterization of sequence-specific DNA binders (under Prof Glenn Burley). Between 2018-2020, he pursued postdoctoral studies in the lab of Prof Amanda Hargrove (Duke University, US), where his focus shifted towards defining the principles for targeting RNA with small molecules. In 2020, Giacomo continued his postdoctoral studies by joining the lab of Prof Frederic Allain (ETH Zurich, Switzerland), where he used NMR fragment screening for targeting RNA-protein complexes. Giacomo joined the AC-BI team as medicinal chemist in July 2022. In his spare time, Giacomo enjoys cycling, travelling (preferably by bicycle) and hiking.
