Emelyne studied chemistry at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier in France, where she obtained an MSc in Organic Chemistry. During that time, she carried out various research stays at Sanofi Aventis in Frankfurt am Main, and Hoffmann La Roche in Basel. Following the advice from her former boss at Roche, she moved to Goettingen, Germany to join the group of Prof. Dr. Lutz Ackermann. During her PhD studies, she worked on the development of new methodologies for the synthesis of biaryl units, through direct C-H Bond functionalization. After kissing the Ganseliesel goodbye, she was offered the opportunity to work with Prof. Michael E. Jung at UCLA. There, she developed new analogues for the treatment of various types of cancer. The next step in her career as a medicinal chemist was to join the AC-BI team to develop new PROTACs, leading to potential cures for diseases with unmet medical needs. Her hobbies include going to concerts, sports, reading, camping, hiking, exploring new places and learning about other cultures.
