Kevin studied chemistry at Heidelberg University, where he first discovered his interest in structural biology. In his master’s project at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg he characterized transient protein/protein interactions using paramagnetic relaxation enhancement in NMR. He returned to EMBL for his PhD in the group of Janosch Hennig, where he explored the interplay of RNA binding and catalytic activity in the E3 ligase TRIM25 using diverse structural and biophysical techniques, including NMR, small-angle X-ray and neutron scattering, and ITC. In November 2020 he joined the Ciulli lab, where he will continue to study E3 ligases but with a new focus on the development of chemical probes. In his free time, Kevin is an avid nature photographer often found outside with his camera, hiking, or kayaking. He also enjoys reading a wide range of fiction and non-fiction and exploring unusual technology.
