Profile

Simon is from Belgium and studied pharmaceutical sciences, graduated with an MSc in drug development. During his honours program, he conducted research on alpha-galactosylceramide analogs as iNKT-cell antigens and explored piperidine scaffolds as bacterial transglycosylase inhibitors for his master’s thesis. In 2019, he embarked on a PhD program in Medicinal Chemistry at Ghent University, with a focus on developing PROTAC-based therapies to degrade important oncogenic targets in pediatric cancer, specifically neuroblastoma. To further expand his knowledge in TPD, he joined the CeTPD as a visiting student in the beginning of October 2023. In his free time, Simon is a competitive badminton player and trainer. He also enjoys mountain biking and playing board games.
