Welcome to the Language Processing Lab. Our research focuses on how people produce and comprehend language.

Language is a complex communication system unique to humans, but despite the complexities of language, we rarely experience difficulties when we produce or comprehend language; language processing appears to be highly automatized. In the LangPro Lab, based in Psychology at the University of Dundee, we investigate how we manage to process language so efficiently and, in those rare cases when language processing breaks down, why we experience difficulties. In our research, we try to find out what psychological processes underlie language production and comprehension, with a focus on how healthy adults process sentence structure, reference and discourse.
