Introduction to this Seminar Series

Mental health problems are a significant contributor to the global burden of disease. However, these problems are complex, as they tend to be determined by the interactions between societal, cultural, psychological, and biological factors. If we want to make some real progress in our understanding of mental health problems, and in our ability to improve the life of the sufferers, a cross-disciplinary dialogue is of essence.

With these seminars, we wish to contribute to the dialogue between mental health researchers in a variety of fields such as sociology, anthropology, education, psychology, epidemiology, psychiatry, and neuroscience.

We hope to do so by inviting speakers who take a very broad perspective on mental health issues, and by attracting a diverse audience.
