{"id":14,"date":"2020-03-04T13:15:26","date_gmt":"2020-03-04T13:15:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.dev.dundee.ac.uk\/unesco-centre-blog\/?page_id=14"},"modified":"2026-01-19T14:50:42","modified_gmt":"2026-01-19T14:50:42","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.dundee.ac.uk\/unesco-centre-blog\/about-us\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are an interdisciplinary centre for research linked to fresh water, with a particular interest in the connections between law, policy and science.<\/p>\n<p>We were established in 2008 by agreement between the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the UK Government, in partnership with the Scottish Government and University of Dundee.<\/p>\n<p>As the UK\u2019s only UNESCO <a href=\"https:\/\/en.unesco.org\/themes\/water-security\/centres\">Category 2 water centre<\/a>, we maintain links to an international network of water scholars under the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.unesco.org\/themes\/water-security\/hydrology\">International Hydrological Programme<\/a> (IHP).<\/p>\n<p>We also provide a hub for Associate researchers across Scotland working on issues connected to fresh water, in connection with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/policies\/water\/hydro-nation\/\">Scotland&#8217;s Hydro Nation Strategy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>See our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dundee.ac.uk\/water\/\">website<\/a> for more information about our research, people, and governance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are an interdisciplinary centre for research linked to fresh water, with a particular interest in the connections between law, policy and science.
