Julien Al Shakarchi was born in Nice, France in 1983, and educated at King Edward VI Five Ways Grammar School. After qualifying in Medicine in 2008 from the University of Birmingham, he completed his core surgical training in the West Midlands and finished his Masters in Surgical Sciences at the University of Edinburgh in 2012. He is currently a Specialty Registrar in General Surgery.
He is a reviewer for a number of journals including the British Journal of Surgery and is a founder and editor of the Journal of Surgical Case Reports
