Efstratios Kokkalis

Partner: University of Dundee

Efstratios (Stratos) Kokkalis – Stratos gained an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering at the Technological Educational Institute of Athens before he graduated with an MSc in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Dundee. In 2010 he was awarded a SUPA INSPIRE studentship and started a PhD in the University of Dundee supported by the University of Edinburgh and Vascular Flow Technologies Ltd. His research was focused on the impact of prosthetic vascular grafts on haemodynamic parameters known to affect the vascular function; this project applied vector Doppler ultrasound and computational methods.

In July 2014, Stratos joined ReDVA as a Marie Curie Research Fellow of the University of Dundee, seconded to Vascular Flow Technologies Ltd. He is interested in understanding the relationship between venous access failure in haemodialysis and local haemodynamics, and in supporting the development of novel vascular implants, using experimental and computational approaches.
