David Newport

Dr. David Newport is currently a Lecturer in Chemical Engineering in the Department of Mechanical Aeronautical & Biomedical Engineering at the University of Limerick.  His background is in natural convection heat transfer, with applications in electronics cooling and thermal management of aircraft.

He has secured in excess of 2.6M euros of research funding (70% of which is from EU sources) and led UL’s participation in the massive FP7 aerospace projects CRESCENDO and MAAXIMUS relating to aircraft heat transfer.

David’s current research activities are focussed on gas micro-flows, fluidics of the lymphatic system, fertility and venous access flows.  He is an Organising Chair of the 4th European Conference on Microfluidics.
