She has been advising, teaching, and running academic programmes for the past ten years. Before moving to Scotland, she worked as Junior Specialist faculty member within the Colleges of Arts and Sciences at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, USA, and as Manager of the Center of Academic Enhancement at Texas A&amp;M, Galveston, USA.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to advising, Kathleen serves as an academic coach to students, and a classroom management consultant to academic faculty. He is Professor Emeritus of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Hawaii and was a long-time Cooperating Graduate Faculty member in the Department of Ocean &amp; Resources Engineering. He was department chair from 2003 until 2009, and interim dean of the College of Engineering from 2016-2019.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Riggs is also the chief editor of the ASCE Journal of Waterway, Port, Coastal and Ocean Engineering, and has been on the editorial boards of several other engineering journals. He is also active in the accreditation of civil engineering programs in the USA, and he is a licensed professional engineer in Hawai&#8217;i.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 13\">\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\" style=\"text-align: center\">\n<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-117\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.dundee.ac.uk\/ocean-engineering\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/148\/2020\/01\/image10-e1578520890714.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/>Professor Solomon Yim<\/h3>\n<h5><em>Scientific Topic Instructor<\/em><\/h5>\n<p>Prof. Solomon Yim is the Inaugural Glenn Willis Holcomb Professor of Structural Engineering and Professor of Ocean Engineering at Oregon State University (OSU). He has been conducting research on structural and wave mechanics, and coupled fluid-structure interaction systems with application in naval, offshore, and coastal engineering and marine hydrokinetics for over 30 years. He obtained his BS from Rice University, MS and PhD in Civil Engineering and MA in Mathematics from UC Berkeley.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Yim was the chief editor of the ASME Journal of Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering in 2007-2017 and is associate editor\/editorial board member of a number other international journals including Ocean Engineering, Ocean Engineering Marine Energy, Marine Science and Application, and ASCE Waterway, Port, Coastal and Ocean Engineering. Prior to joining the faculty at OSU in 1987, he worked several years in the energy industry at the Exxon Production Research Company in Houston. After completing my PhD in Management at Northwestern University in Chicago, I joined the University of Wisconsin in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>I have taught Undergraduate, Master\u2019s, and Doctoral courses on Negotiation Strategies,Organizational Behavior, International Management, and Research Methods.
