Comrie Cancer Club

Residents lucky enough to live in the beautiful village of Comrie have come together to raise impressive amounts of money for a number of Scottish cancer charities. Comrie Cancer Club has been running for over 40 years raising over £1.3 million for cancer-related causes.  It has generously donated annually to Ninewells Cancer Campaign, donating over £100,000 in total! This is a remarkable enterprise that is run entirely by volunteers in a rural location. It originally started out as a few games of bingo, organised by Jessie and Davie Robertson MBE to raise money for cancer research. Their charity shop, now housed in Dunira Street in Comrie, has developed something of a reputation for stocking some excellent quality items, and the volunteers spend a lot of care and thought into their retail display. They have been dubbed as “Little Harrods” by locals, with shoppers coming from miles around to grab a bargain! All of the volunteers, of which there are no shortage, love their work at the shop as it a great social hub for all of the residents. It is very important to the Club that the funds they raise are all directed to local charities
