Here in the University of Dundee Library, one small way we do that is through the stories behind some of our study spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve spent time in the DJCAD Library, you may already have come across the Finlay Room \u2014 a group study space named after artist and DJCAD graduate Shona Finlay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A space for working together<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Finlay Room is designed for collaborative work. Whether you\u2019re preparing a presentation, discussing a project with classmates, or simply looking for somewhere to work together, it\u2019s a handy space to book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The room offers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Seating for 7 people, with standing space for up to 6 <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A presentation screen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>VGA and HDMI connectors for laptops<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Power sockets for charging devices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An accessible seat\/space<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.dundee.ac.uk\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/255\/2026\/03\/finlay-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2333\" style=\"width:284px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.dundee.ac.uk\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/255\/2026\/03\/finlay-rotated.jpg 480w, https:\/\/sites.dundee.ac.uk\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/255\/2026\/03\/finlay-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">The Finlay Room<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re not quite sure where it is, our <a href=\"https:\/\/libcal.dundee.ac.uk\/map\/81\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/libcal.dundee.ac.uk\/map\/81\">interactive library map<\/a> will help you find it quickly inside the DJCAD Library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Named after DJCAD graduate Shona Finlay<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The room takes its name from Shona Finlay, who graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art &amp; Design with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 2003. During her time at DJCAD she received the Sandra McNeillance Memorial Award for Drawing and Painting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since graduating, Shona has built an impressive career as a painter.
