His work is deeply influenced by his travels and experiences, capturing both the physical landscapes he has encountered and the emotional connections he has made along the way. This exhibition invites visitors to explore these themes through a dynamic collection of paintings, each telling its own story of place, time, and personal reflection.

A Lifelong Passion for Art

Peter Flynn earned his Diploma in Art at Duncan of Jordanstone in 1979, followed by a postgraduate year in 1980. His talent and dedication were recognised early when he received the prestigious Elizabeth Greenshield Award, an honour that enabled him to travel and refine his craft in various countries. On his return, he was invited to participate in the Blackness Public Art Programme, where he created two notable pieces: the Lochee Fence and the Polepark Arch.

Though he pursued a long and successful career in education—ultimately becoming Principal Teacher of Art at St John’s RC High School Flynn never stopped painting. Throughout his teaching years, he continued to exhibit his work, balancing his passion for both art and education. Since retiring, he has devoted himself entirely to painting, exploring new styles and themes while staying true to the influences that have shaped his artistic journey.

Experience Crossings

This exhibition not only highlights Flynn’s technical skill and expressive use of colour but also serves as a tribute to a life dedicated to creativity. Whether you are familiar with his work or discovering it for the first time, Crossings is an inspiring look at an artist who has continually evolved while remaining deeply connected to his roots.

Visit the Exhibition:
Tower Foyer Gallery, April 7 – June 27
Monday-Friday, 9:30am-7pm (last entry 5pm)
Closed: 18 & 21 April for Easter

Peter Flynn, Marrakesh 1

Fifty years ago, Peter Flynn began his artistic journey at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art.
