With exams fast approaching, many of you are settling into revision mode. To support you during this busy period, the Library is open 24/7 until 16 December, giving you the freedom to study at whatever time suits you best. Whether you’re an early riser who enjoys the calm of the morning or a night owl who focuses better later on, the choice is yours.

While you’re working hard, we also want to encourage you to look after yourselves. Your wellbeing is every bit as important as your academic performance — and a rested, healthy mind will help you study more effectively.


Look After Yourself While You Study

Take regular breaks
It can be tempting to study for long stretches, but short, frequent breaks help keep your mind fresh. Step away from your desk, stretch your legs, or grab a drink — you’ll come back feeling more focused.

Get plenty of rest
Sleep plays a vital role in concentration and memory. Even though we’re open around the clock, please don’t feel the need to stay all night. Use the library at the times that work for you, but make sure you’re still getting enough sleep.

Eat well and stay hydrated
Bring snacks, drink lots of water, and keep your energy levels steady with nourishing food. Our kitchen facilities are available if you’d like to make a hot drink or fill your water bottle, and the café offers a range of hot and cold snacks.

Stay Safe, Especially After Dark

If you’re coming to the library in the evening or heading home late, we strongly encourage you to find a walking buddy. Whether it’s a friend, flatmate, or fellow student, walking together is a simple way to stay safe and feel more comfortable travelling at night.


Take a Break in Our Creative and Relaxing Spaces

Long study sessions can be demanding, so remember to give your mind a rest. We have a number of spaces designed to help you switch off:

CreateSpace (Ground Floor)
Take a break with something hands-on — jigsaws, Lego, sewing, badge-making, and more. It’s an ideal way to relax and reset.

Broughty Ferry Beach Club (Middle Floor)
A calm, inviting space where you can unwind for a moment away from your coursework.
