BACKGROUND:
The Bronchiectasis Health Questionnaire (BHQ) is a short and simple disease-specific tool that measures quality of life in patients with bronchiectasis, helping healthcare professionals to understand the impact of an individuals bronchiectasis on their daily life.
The questionnaire consists of 10-items and generates a total score.
STUDY OVERVIEW:
The BHQ is included as an outcome measure within EMBARC-BRIDGE and previous work from EMBARC has validated the BHQ as a reliable health assessment tool in the bronchiectasis population. The BHQ was also found to correlate highly with other quality of life questionnaires, including the Quality of Life – Bronchiectasis (QoL-B) Questionnaire, and significantly correlate with clinical outcomes.
The findings of this study have been previously presented in abstract form at the ERS Congress 2023.
The BHQ was originally developed in English but has now been translated into multiple languages.
