‘Hack the University’ is our way of celebrating the fact that we’re now officially open for business at DJCADMake.
We’re inviting students from all over the University of Dundee to join us in our inaugural 2-day hackjam, in which participants will answer challenges set by some of our service sectors in the University – UoD_IT, Student Services, Library and Learning Centre and DUSA. These challenges will provide an opportunity to address real problems experienced by these departments – but, unusually, from a student perspective.
Challenges can be met however the teams see appropriate. Come up with a mobile app, a video, an interactive object, a service design project – it’s up to you!
The action will be centered in DJCAD, but teams are welcome to set up camp wherever they feel comfortable, or are closest to the resources they need. Of course, DJCADMake will make available laser cutting and 3d printing facilities, as well as Arduino kit, computers for programming and electronics soldering equipment.
And there are prizes. Seriously fantastic prizes. The nice people at RS Components have incredibly kindly supplied us with a selection of prizes which are, quite frankly, awesome – Arduinos, Raspberry Pis, Bare Conductive Touch Boards and – I kid you not – a 3D printer. Amazing.
Anyway – get over to the Eventbrite registration page to get all the details, and to sign up.
See you on the 29th!
