A new exhibition celebrating the work of photographer Alex Coupar is on show in the Lamb Gallery at the University of Dundee, charting the faces and places of Dundee and beyond.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Dundee-born photographer has recorded our lives and surroundings since the early 1950s. Across Scotland, Alex has captured our urban and rural landscapes, our work, leisure and cultural lives for six decades.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This exhibition presents highlights from the Alex Coupar Collection, now held by the University’s Archive Services. Using Alex’s original prints where possible, and focusing on his home city of Dundee, the exhibition reveals some of the many changes and developments recorded by Alex over the years.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Senior Archivist Jan Merchant says \u201cAlex\u2019s body of work is extensive and varied, having worked as a photo-journalist with <\/span>The Courier and <\/span><\/i>other DCT publications, then establishing Spanphoto which became one of Scotland\u2019s leading photographic studios. We\u2019re proud to exhibit this selection of over 100 images from the collection, reflecting his work with clients such as the Harbour Trust, Dundee Rep Theatre and other local organisations. The exhibition also highlights Alex\u2019s interest in people and the connection he makes with them through his photography.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The exhibition is a collaboration with the University of Dundee Museums. It can be seen on the first floor of the Tower Building until 2 November, Monday-Saturday. Entry is free. Further details can be found at <\/span>Coupar’s Camera | University of Dundee, UK.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n
