The Global Room is a social space on City Campus for all students to relax, meet new people and celebrate cultural events. The Global Room offers a drop-in zone during the semester with various teams from Student Services including Immigration\u00a0Compliance, International Advice, and\u00a0Go Abroad Ambassadors<\/a>\u00a0to name a few. We also have student PCs which are available to\u00a0use and is we are a space for holding social events. We have board games and jigsaws that are available if you need to relax in\u00a0between classes and take some time out of your busy day. Staff can also use the space for informal meetings,\u00a0contact us<\/a>\u00a0to book a space.<\/p>\n During January we were extremely busy with the new international student intake. 1378 students matriculated over a few weeks. The Global Room was also a venue for some Welcome events. In amongst this we decorated the Global Room to celebrate Chinese New Year. We held a small event on Thursday 26 January giving away traditional red envelopes filled with gold covered chocolate and hosted lantern making. We also gave away apples, grapes and oranges which have different meanings. Apples mean safeness, grapes mean abundance and oranges mean good luck & happiness.<\/p>\n For February we have a couple of events planned. The first is Random Acts of Kindness Day which Amber who is the Modern Apprentice in the Global Room is working on. We will host <\/span>crafting, chilling with a mental health podcast, <\/span>encourage people to <\/span>add some inspirational messages to our pin board and enjoy multiple games of Monopoly \u2013 donated by the Board Games Society for the afternoon<\/span>. For March we hope to host something for University Mental Health Day on the 9 March. We will also host an event for Holi on the afternoon of the 10 March.
