One of the constants during this period was the natural world, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/living\/2020\/06\/25\/over-60-of-adults-find-relief-from-covid-stress-in-nature\">more than 60% of adults<\/a>\u00a0turned to the natural world for support at this time. A host of previous research has found that contact with nature in its many forms, as well as connection to it, the positive relationship we have with the non-human natural world, are beneficial for our wellbeing.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/discovery.dundee.ac.uk\/en\/publications\/the-case-for-nature-connectedness-as-a-distinct-goal-of-early-chi\">Nurturing young children\u2019s connection<\/a>\u00a0to nature is paramount, especially at times of turmoil. Research suggests many ways to do that, including through<a href=\"https:\/\/discovery.dundee.ac.uk\/en\/publications\/refocusing-environmental-education-in-the-early-years-a-brief-int\">\u00a0sustained contact, play, mindful attention and empathy towards plants and non-human animals.\u00a0<\/a>Moreover, using technology, such as mobile cameras,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/discovery.dundee.ac.uk\/en\/publications\/green-and-screen-does-mobile-photography-enhance-or-hinder-our-co\">can also enhance our connection to the natural world.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This short comic, posted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/tceltintr679475724.wordpress.com\/\" rel=\"home\">International Network of Transitions Researchers<\/a>, shows these and other ways families can use to continue to build a positive and lasting relationship with nature, even during lockdown. Her research focuses on nature connection for wellbeing and ecological behaviours. Her husband, who is a teacher and Head of Outdoor Learning at a school in Scotland, and their two sons, Joe and Ollie, who have been growing up wild right from the start, have contributed to the story in this comic.
