The Ian Lowe Centre at Ninewells Hospital Medical School is hosting a unique exhibition celebrating the creative intersection of medicine, surgery and art. Planned by PRASS (Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery Society), the exhibition invites Artistic and Medical personnel to share work that reflects their engagement with the human body in all its complexity.

Bringing together contributors from diverse academic and creative backgrounds, the exhibition explores how artistic practice can sit alongside and enhance medical education. From anatomical studies to more interpretive and conceptual pieces, the work on display will explore themes of form, function, and identity, offering visitors a chance to connect with medicine through a different lens.

At the heart of the exhibition is a shared curiosity about how we see and understand the body. For those interested in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, visual awareness is central- not only in technical precision, but in understanding the human experience behind clinical practice. Art provides a powerful way to engage with this idea, allowing visitors to reflect on the emotional, ethical and aesthetic dimensions of medicine.

Hosted within the Medical School at Ninewells Hospital, the setting highlights the value of interdisciplinary collaboration and places creativity at the heart of medical learning. It reminds visitors that medicine is as much a human and visual practice as it is a scientific one.
Whether you are interested in surgery, medical illustration, or simply the stories that bodies can tell, this exhibition offers an opportunity to engage with medicine in a thoughtful and imaginative way. Please join us on the 9th and 10th of February 2026 in the Ian Lowe Centre of Ninewells Hospital to see some amazing artwork, and learn more about the discipline of Medical Art!
