For #WellTogether Week, University Archivist Caroline Brown has created some short talks which explore how archives relate to mental well-being. Today we share the second of her short talks, in which we she discusses how mental health records in the archives are used, and the difference they can make to people’s lives. As you will see in the video, the archives relating to mental health are used for learning and teaching by all sorts of students – from history, education and social work, to medicine and nursing. Caroline explains just how useful these archives are – they help us to learn from the past, to make things better now, to look back to good practices in the past and inform decisions about today. Watch the video below to learn more about how archives give us a different perspective and context for discussing difficult issues today.
