This in-person meeting brings together scientists working on acclimation responses to (elevated) ambient temperatures and serves as a platform for presenting cutting-edge research &#8211; much of it unpublished &#8211; fostering discussion of recent advances and facilitating new collaborations. The scientific programme will cover a wide range of topics related to temperature-controlled plant biology, including (but not limited to):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Developmental processes triggered by elevated ambient temperature<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Spatial and temporal aspects of temperature responses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interplay between thermomorphogenesis and heat stress responses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Temperature sensing mechanisms in plants<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Signalling cascades in response to elevated temperature (including transcriptional, post-transcriptional, and post-translational regulation)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interactions between temperature-controlled development and metabolism<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Integration of temperature signals with other environmental cues<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Thermomorphogenesis in the context of climate adaptation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Temperature responses in crop species<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Harnessing temperature signalling pathways to enhance crop resilience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Registration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As with previous instalments of this meeting, Thermomorphogenesis 2026 is completely free to attend. To gauge attendance and plan the programme accordingly, we ask you to register for the meeting <strong>by 31 May 2026<\/strong> following <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.co.uk\/e\/thermomorphogenesis-2026-tickets-1984136299082\">this link<\/a><\/strong>. We are also offering two types of slots for presentations: <strong>full talks<\/strong> (15-20 minute presentation followed by 5 minutes of questions) and <strong>flash talks<\/strong> (5 minutes, no questions); the latter are particularly suited for researchers at the beginning of their (thermomorphogenesis) research journey, who do not yet have many data to present but still would like to showcase their project. We hope that we can give anyone who is keen to present the opportunity to do so, but this will depend on the number of attendees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Travel Grants<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We are able to offer three travel grants (\u00a3500 each) to support attendance at Thermomorphogenesis 2026. These grants are intended for early career researchers (students and postdoctoral researchers) and the awardees will be required to present a full or flash talk at the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To apply, please submit a short statement (maximum 200 words) outlining why you would benefit from attending the meeting and why you should be considered for a travel grant. Many more options are available with a single change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Getting around: Dundee&#8217;s city centre is quite walkable. If required, local bus services are operated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stagecoachbus.com\/about\/east-scotland\">Stagecoach East Scotland<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.xploredundee.com\/\">Xplore Dundee<\/a>; tickets can be purchased directly from the driver. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to do in and around Dundee<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Located on Scotland\u2019s east coast, Dundee combines a rich industrial heritage with a thriving contemporary arts scene and scenic surroundings along the River Tay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visitors interested in culture and design can explore the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vam.ac.uk\/dundee\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.vam.ac.uk\/dundee\">V&amp;A Dundee<\/a>, Scotland\u2019s first design museum, located on the revitalised waterfront, right next to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dundeeheritagetrust.co.uk\/attraction\/discovery-point\/\">Discovery Point<\/a>, where you can uncover the history of the Royal Research Ship Discovery and her legendary Antarctic expedition of 1901 under Captain Scott. Other excellent museums and galleries include The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcmanus.co.uk\/\">McManus<\/a>: Dundee\u2019s Art Gallery &amp; Museum, which celebrates the region\u2019s history, art and natural heritage, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dundeeheritagetrust.co.uk\/attraction\/verdant-works\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.dundeeheritagetrust.co.uk\/attraction\/verdant-works\/\">Verdant Works<\/a>, which showcases Dundee&#8217;s industrial heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For those who prefer the outdoors, Dundee offers green spaces and coastal scenery. A walk along the waterfront or a short trip to <a href=\"https:\/\/visitbroughtyferry.com\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/visitbroughtyferry.com\/\">Broughty Ferry<\/a> provide beaches, a historic castle and views across the Tay. At the outskirts of the city, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dundeecity.gov.uk\/service-area\/neighbourhood-services\/camperdown-country-park\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.dundeecity.gov.uk\/service-area\/neighbourhood-services\/camperdown-country-park\">Camperdown Country Park<\/a> offers woodland walks and wildlife. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dundee is also an excellent base for exploring the surrounding region. Nearby <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standrews.com\/homepage\">St Andrews<\/a> &#8211; easily reached by bus &#8211; offers historic streets, coastal walks and world-famous golf heritage. Close by, you find the recently established <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edenmill.com\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.edenmill.com\/\">Eden Mills<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingsbarnsdistillery.com\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.kingsbarnsdistillery.com\/\">Kingsbarns <\/a>distilleries for a taste of local whisky. The coast northeast of Dundee can also be explored by train, providing access to the ruins of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.historicenvironment.scot\/visit-a-place\/places\/arbroath-abbey\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.historicenvironment.scot\/visit-a-place\/places\/arbroath-abbey\/\">Arbroath Abbey<\/a> and the scenic <a href=\"https:\/\/visitangus.com\/things-to-see-do\/attractions\/arbroath-seaton-cliffs\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/visitangus.com\/things-to-see-do\/attractions\/arbroath-seaton-cliffs\/\">Arbroath Cliffs<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For those travelling by car, the wider region offers further highlights, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glamis-castle.co.uk\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.glamis-castle.co.uk\/\">Glamis Castle<\/a>, one of Scotland\u2019s most iconic historic houses, and the spectacular cliff-top fortress of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dunnottarcastle.co.uk\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.dunnottarcastle.co.uk\/\">Dunnottar Castle<\/a> near Stonehaven.
