Shakil completed his master\u2019s degree in Drug Discovery at the University of Aberdeen before pursing a PhD at Aston University under the supervision of Dr Xuming Zhang and Professor Gavin Woodhall. Here he focussed on cell and molecular biology techniques to understand the role of IQGAP1 in chronic pain.
