During this time, she undertook a year of industrial placement as part of the green chemistry team at GlaxoSmithKline in Stevenage. After her undergraduate studies, Mhairi started her PhD under the supervision of Professor Craig Jamieson at the University of Strathclyde. Her work focused on the applications of the nitrile imine 1,3-dipole as a bioorthogonal labelling tool, which was completed in 2024. Mhairi then joined the AC-BI team in Dundee as a medicinal chemist.
