Urban ReLeaf General Assembly in Utrecht

2 min read • 19th April 2024

From April 9-11, the Urban ReLeaf General Assembly took place in Utrecht, bringing together project partners for a three-day programme of project updates, collaborative discussions, and strategic planning.

The meeting began with an inspiring welcome by Marit Linckens, Program Manager: Climate Adaptation, City of Utrecht.

Partners held discussions on key topics for urban data gathering, including greener neighbourhoods, greenspace perception, air quality monitoring and urban tree mapping. The second day delved into practical methodologies for impact assessment and data management. The group also engaged in a session on our community of practice and its governance.

The following is a summary of our meeting key achievements:

  • City-specific inclusive strategies for engaging hard-to-reach communities.
  • Plans for creative commissions to support pop-up community engagements in each of the cities.
  • Discussions on environmental data-driven decision-making.
  • Testing our new tree registry app for cities
  • Planning future sustainable pathways including Urban ReLeaf value propositions

Our highlight was a guided field trip to a Utrecht pilot neighbourhood (see above) who are experiencing that challenges of heat stress.

This provided a live context for testing the new Urban ReLeaf tree registry app, aimed at enhancing citizen-led data collection.

We moving forward with plans to launch the first campaigns in Athens, Cascais, Dundee, Mannheim, Riga and Utrecht. 🌿
