Professor Rory McCrimmon

Prof McCrimmon is Interim Dean (Research) in the School of Medicine, University of Dundee. He is also Lead Clinician for the Scottish Diabetes Research Network (SDRN), which provides the necessary infrastructure to co-ordinate and enable academic and commercial research throughout Scotland. The SDRN hosts a National Research Register of over 11,000 subjects with diabetes pre-consented to be contacted about clinical trials. The register is directly linked to SCI-diabetes, which contains secure clinical and biochemical data on over 350,000 people with diabetes in Scotland. Prof McCrimmon is on the Editorial Boards of Diabetologia, Diabetes Care and the Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism. He is currently panel member for: Diabetes UK, Clinical Studies Group Management Committee;

Diabetes UK, Intermediate Clinical Fellowships Panel; Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation PEAK Programme; Panel member, International Hypoglycaemia Study Group;  Panel Member Medical Research Council Clinical Fellowship Training and Career Development Awards panel; Panel Member,Research Advisory Board, Diabetes Research & Wellness Foundation.  The primary research of the McCrimmon group is in the area of type 1 diabetes and metabolic disorders and involves applied research into the brain regulation of glucose homeostasis as well as clinical trials.
