Report

DUSCC secured an exciting win against a strong Cupar side on their home artificial pitch with one ball to spare, chasing a steep 157 to win. There were excellent knocks from Varun Gopalakrishnan (27 from 31 balls), Richard Miller (32 from 28 balls), Steve Cummings (43no from 48 balls, while sporting a natty pair of brown Hush Puppies as he only had spiked boots) and Scott Rodgers (19no from 8 balls), but credit should also go to the Cupar side who sportingly rotated their bowlers. The Cupar innings consisted mostly of watching some high-quality batsmen launch the ball many a mile… though Steve Boarder bowled a reasonable containing spell in mid-innings, and Simon Tiernan took 2 wickets at the end, one with a lethal double-bouncing yorker which he should perhaps patent.
