Report

This was DUSCC’s first game of the 2007 season, and it is fair to say the rust showed as Almond Valley scored a convincing win with 9 wickets and some 5 overs to spare. Mo Thaha and Colin Reid at least showed some sparkle with the bat, Mo in particular playing some handsome strokes until retiring on 33. The middle order was not able to accelerate towards the end of the innings and a total of 113 looked somewhat inadequate. Almond Valley sent in pinch hitters to open and the move paid off handsomely as they scored 82 in the first 10 overs. Only Richard Miller of the DUSCC bowlers was able to take a wicket, and the game ended with DUSCC perhaps pondering its usual policy of pitching up for the first game of the season having arranged no practice sessions beforehand…
